Murlin Campbell
Murlin Campbell, age 76, of Aurora, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Private Family Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 15th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Interment will be in Aurora Cemetery. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: MURLIN CAMPBELL Murlin Marvel Campbell, the son of Melvin F. and Dora M. (Marvel) Campbell, was born in Giltner, Nebraska on November 24, 1925 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 13, 2002, at the age of 76 years. He graduated from Giltner High School in 1942 and then taught at a rural school for one year. Murlin was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Gimpel on October 24, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 during the Korean War. Murlin farmed until his health prevented him from doing so. They lived in Hastings and Harvard for a time, where he owned and operated a hardware store. Murlin worked for Bonnavilla in Aurora from the time it opened until he retired in 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary of Aurora; four children, a son David Campbell and his wife Cathie of Kearney, daughter, Marilee Zachek and her husband Ed of Davenport, son Norman Campbell and his wife Angela of Grand Island and son John Campbell and his wife April of Aurora; 6 grandsons and one granddaughter. Murlin is also survived by a sister, Irene Strong of Aurora and a brother, Dale Campbell of Hastings. |
