Mabel Eastman, age 96, formerly of Giltner, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Memorial Long Term Care in Aurora

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Interment will be in the Cedarview Cemetery in Doniphan. OBITUARY: MABEL EASTMAN

Mabel Alberta West Eastman, the daughter of Russell Albert and Allie Nancy (Huff) West, was born in Monroe City, Missouri on September 30, 1905 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 18, 2002, at the age of 96 years.

She grew up in Missouri and moved to Nebraska at the age of 13. Mabel graduated from Giltner High School in 1926.

MabeI was united in marriage to J. Elmer Eastman on March 6, 1926. They lived in Giltner, Doniphan, Murphy and Stockham, where they raised their eight children. Elmer passed away on May 26, 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant daughter, one brother and five sisters.

Mabel is survived by her eight children, Irene Rynearson of Fullerton; June Frederiksen and her husband Gerald of Grand Island; Vern Eastman and his wife Eileen, Deryle Eastman and his wife Barbara, Dennis Eastman and his wife Carlla and Karen Burns and her husband John all of Giltner; Eloise Reid of Hastings and Erma Luth of Aurora; a brother, Marvin West of Giltner; one sister, Betty Derr of Giltner; 39 grandchildren and numerous great & great-great grandchildren.
