Robert Ketchum

Bob Ketchum, age 55, of Aurora, died Monday morning, May 13, 2002 at home after a long battle with cancer.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Bill Graham will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: ROBERT KETCHUM

Robert Clyde Ketchum, the son of Bruce and Bernice (Anderson) Ketchum, was born at Long Beach, California on March 29, 1947 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 13, 2002, at the age of 55 years.

He was raised in Long Beach. When Bob was a senior in high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp Buddy System with his friend Steve Murphy on March 10, 1965. Following graduation from Millikan High School in June, Bob began serving his country during the Vietnam War. He returned from war on July 7, 1968 and served in the Reserves until he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on March 9, 1971.

Robert was united in marriage to Verla Frances Wey on August 17, 1974 at Twentynine Palms, California. Bob was an employee of Sack Lumber for 30 years. He was active in the Aurora V.F.W.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bob is survived by his wife, Verla of Aurora; son, Bobby Ketchum and his wife Debbie of Aurora; two daughters, Melissa Wey of Aurora and Kristi Ketchum of Portland, Oregon; two grandchildren, Robbie and Darbi Ketchum both of Aurora and a sister, Carol Saddler and her husband Dale of Aurora.
