LeRoy Nydegger

LeRoy Nydegger, age 90, of Aurora, died Tuesday night, June 18, 2002, at Memorial Long Term Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 21st at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: LEROY NYDEGGER

LeRoy Banks Nydegger, the son of Daniel Edward and Jessie Ann (Banks) Nydegger, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on October 20, 1911 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on June 18, 2002, at the age of 90.

He grew up in Fort Dodge where he graduated from high school. He graduated from Iowa State with a B. S. Degree. LeRoy received his Master's Degree from the University of Nebraska and his Ph.D. from Syracuse University.

LeRoy was united in marriage to Caroline Rachael Jemison on January 27, 1938 at Aurora. They lived in Sioux City, Iowa where LeRoy was a college professor at Morningside College, they then moved to Syracuse, New York where LeRoy finished his Ph.D. LeRoy then became a professor for the State University of New York at New Paltz. He retired in 1976. They lived in New York after retirement until 1996, when they moved to Aurora.

LeRoy was a member of the United Methodist Church,

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Caroline of Aurora; daughter, Jean Anne Smith of Chattanooga, Tennessee; son, Daniel LeRoy Nydegger of Auburn, Washington; 4 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lawrence Nydegger of Mesa, Arizona and Gordon Raymond of Zephyr Hills, Florida and sister-in-law, Jean Jemison of Aurora.
