Ruth Ronin
Ruth Ronin, age 94, died Monday, May 20, 2002 at the Plymouth Village Health Care Center in Redlands, California. Memorial Services will be held at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel on Saturday, June 22, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. Inurnment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: RUTH RONIN Ruth Ronin, the daughter of Carl and Grace Huenefeld, was born at the country home of her parent's southwest of Aurora, Nebraska on March 17, 1908 and died in Redlands, California on May 20, 2002, at the age of 94. She attended rural School District #66. Her home was just a ¼ mile from the school, so she would go home for lunch. Ruth had an older sister Helen, a brother Wesley, and twin sisters, Eveline and Alice; and a brother, Charles, who was the youngest. Ruth graduated from Aurora High School in 1925. She attended York College. Her husband "to be", attended Weslyan College. Ruth was united in marriage to Charles Maynard Ronin. After they were married they went to the East Coast to see how our country operated; later on they traveled through Europe. They moved from Chester, Nebraska to Long Beach, California. In 1941, they moved to Redlands. Charles served time in the Army. Charles was the vice-principal and director of athletics at Redlands High School from 1946 to 1966. After retirement, they went to live in a rest home. Charles passed away in 1993. Ruth was a member of Redlands First United Methodist Church, the League of Women Voters, YWCA and the Redlands Breakfast Club. Ruth was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. As a member of the Senior Citizen Task Force of Redlands Council of Churches, Ruth was involved in meetings, which led to formation of Redlands Meals on Wheels in the spring of 1970. Ruth served as the chairperson of Meals on Wheels for more than 17 years of continuous service. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; a sister, Helen and a younger brother, Charles. Ruth is survived by her brother, Wesley Huenefeld of Aurora; two sisters, Alice Tucker of Aurora and Eveline M. Greene of Arvada, Colorado and many other relatives and friends. |
