Cecil Sims
Cecil Sims, age 92, of Aurora died Thursday evening, December 27, 2001, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday at the Aurora Methodist Church. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. on Sunday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: CECIL SIMS Cecil Roderick Sims, the son of Claude and Rosa (Luthy) Sims, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on October 24, 1909 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 27, 2001, at the age of 92 years. Cecil grew up on a farm between Giltner and Phillips and attended country school. He graduated from Phillips High School. Cecil then went to work on his parent's farm. Cecil was united in marriage to Eva Shipley on March 15, 1939, in York. They lived in Hazard four years, then moved to a farm north of Aurora for one year and lived in York County for one year. They then moved to a farm southwest of Marquette where they lived for 40 years before moving into Aurora in 1985. Eva passed away on October 3, 1997. Cecil was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time doing carpentry work and custom woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Melvin and two sisters, Wilma Olson and Bernice Hoffmaster. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his brother-in-law, Ervin Shipley of California and several nieces and nephews. |
