Gary Alberts

Gary Alberts, age 70, of Florida, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, Florida.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 2nd at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation. OBITUARY: GARY ALBERTS

Gary Lee Alberts, the son of Nels Oliver and Edith N. (Miller) Alberts, was born in Saronville, Nebraska on December 15, 1939 and died in Hudson, Florida on October 27, 2010, at the age of 70.

He grew up in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School in 1957. Gary served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 until September 2, 1960. He was stationed in England, Morocco and Iceland.

Gary was married to Bonnie Hood on May 20, 1961. There were two children, born to this union: Jodie and Tony. They lived in Aurora and Phillips, while he worked for National Cash Register Company in Grand Island. He was transferred by the company to Scottsbluff and then Omaha. Bonnie passed away on September 19, 1966.

On June 20, 1970, he was united in marriage to Roma Castor and they had a daughter, Carrina. In the early 1970’s they moved to Largo, Florida where Gary worked as a real estate appraiser and tax collector.

Gary had a passion for his family, animals and plants. He will be remembered for laughter he shared with all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodie Alberts, 1964; first wife, Bonnie in 1966; step-son Mark Razey in 1992 and his mother Edith Alberts in 1996.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Roma Alberts of Hudson, Florida; son, Tony Lee (Janice) Alberts of Cabool, Missouri; daughter, Carrina Alberts and David Samson of Largo, Florida; step-children, Karen (Robert) Johnson of Lincoln, Rich Razey of Hastings, Joe (Leila) Razey of Eagle and Chet Razey of Largo, Florida; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his father and step-mother, Nels Oliver (Vivian) Alberts of Aurora; brother, Bill (Linda) Alberts of Aurora and a sister, Patty Jo Alberts of Overland Park, Kansas.
