Marvin Scott Athey, Jr.
Marvin Scott Athey, Jr., age 65, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at his home in Aurora A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, August 2 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at the Imperial Cemetery on Friday, August 3 at 11:00 A.M. Following the committal service, a reception will be held at Beth Ann Larson’s home in Imperial, 919 Douglas Street. OBITUARY: Marvin Scott Athey, Jr. Marvin Scott Athey, Jr., the son of Marvin Scott and Vesta (Shackelford) Athey, Sr., was born in Imperial, Nebraska on January 30, 1947, and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on July 27, 2012 at the age of 65. Scott grew up in Chase County. He graduated in 1967 from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska. Scott enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Germany and the Philippines. Following his discharge from the Air Force he lived in Wauneta and Aurora where he was employed by Bonnavilla, Monfort and Pizza Hut. Scott was a wrestling enthusiast, where he was a U.S.A. Wrestling Copper Level Coach. He enjoyed fishing and was a John Wayne fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Lauren Grace Athey. Those left to cherish his memory are his five children, Scott (Lindsay) Athey of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Barbara Athey of Ord, Matthew (Mary) Athey of Ft. Collins, Colorado, DeAnna Athey of York and Michael Athey of Aurora; brothers, Patrick Athey of Anchorage, Alaska and Timothy Athey of Ft. Collins, Colorado; sisters, Nikola Stroh of San Angelo, Texas and Beth Ann Larson of Imperial and numerous other family members and friends. |
