Chester Bargen

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 14, 1993 at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Nelson Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Chester Bargen

Chester Charles Bargen, the son of Dietrich and Effie (DeMilt) Bargen, was born at Nelson, Nebraska, on March 24, 191, and died at Hastings, Nebraska, on July 11, 1993, at the age of 82 years, 3 months, and 17 days.

He grew up in the Nelson vicinity, and attended rural school and graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1929.

In 1935, he started the Allis Chalmers Dealership in Nelson, which he and his wife still operated, and he was the recipient of many sales awards. For a time they also sold cars. The past several years they have also operated a lime quarrry south of Nelson and also oversaw the family farm at that location.

On August 24, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ruth Green, at Loveland, Colorado.

Chester was a member of the Nelson Community United Church of Christ, belonged to the Nelson Masonic Lodge #77, and was a member of the Superior Elks Club and the Eagles and was a member of the Iowa-Nebraska Farm Equipment Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Lloyd Bargen.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Ruth of Nelson; one son Jerry and his wife Carla of Nelson; one daughter Peggy Duey and her husband Paul of Ft. Riley, Kansas; one brother James Bargen of Nelson; 2 sisters, Ruth Yost of Joplin, Missouri, and Dorothy Higby of Aurora; 6 grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
