OBITUARY: Doris K. Bates

Doris K. Bates, the daughter of Arthur D. and Mahala Ellen (Thomas) King, was born at Lincoln, Nebraska, on September 6, 1882, and passed away at Lincoln, Nebraska, on October 25, 1984, at the age of 102 years, 1 month and 19 days.

Doris was united in marriage to William Parrott on April 17, 1908. After their marriage they lived on a farm north of Havelock. He preceded her in death. She then moved into Lincoln and worked at Ben Simons.

She married George Bates on January 15, 1941 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in Grand Island and Aurora vicinity. After George’s death she moved back to Lincoln in 1965 where she has since resided.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, Harold Parrott of Lincoln; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
