Gary Behrends

Gary Behrends, age 60, of Giltner, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 24th at the Giltner United Methodist Church. Rev. Marta Wheeler will officiate. Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 P.M. on Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. The family will greet friends from 5 – 7. OBITUARY: GARY BEHRENDS

Gary Dean Behrends, the son of Dean LeRoy and Evelyn Katherine (Johnson) Behrends, was born at Hastings, Nebraska on August 9, 1949 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on November 20, 2009 at the age of 60.

Gary grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1967.

Gary was married to Ruth Dangler. He worked for Hastings Irrigation for 30 years and was employed by NTC Trucking for five years. Gary married Sharren Hatfield. Gary was employed by A-1 Fiberglass in Hastings at the time of his illness.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Fred & Lura Behrends and Harry & Anna Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Sharren Behrends of Giltner; two daughters, Michelle (Tim) Dedrick of Hastings and Christine (Kelly) Luedtke of Grand Island; mother, Evelyn Behrends of Giltner; sister, Cheri (Ray) Beck of Hampton; 3 grandsons, David and Jeff Dedrick and Layne Luedtke; 3 nieces, Tiffany Sanderson of Lincoln, Jennifer Rine of Waverly and Amanda Gibb of Loveland, Colorado; 4 step-daughters, Christi Payne of York, Lori Lovell of Wymore, Amber Finan of Geneva and Jeanette Miller of Hampton; 3 great-nieces; 3 great-nephews and 13 step-grandchildren.
