Emma Benson

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 6, 1990 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Interment was held in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Emma Benson

Emma Nicoline Benson, the daughter of Louis and Anine (Christensen) Andersen, was born near Hordville, Nebraska, on March 25, 1900, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 3, 1990, at the age of 89 years, 11 months, and 8 days.

She grew up in the Marquette area, attended Marquette school, and graduating from the 10th grade in 1915. She then attended Nysted Folk School in Dannebrog in 1916.

On March 9, 1920, she was united in marriage to Jerry Benson at Marquette. After their marriage they farmed in the Marquette area until moving to a farm near Superior in 1923. They returned to farming in the Marquette area in 1930. Mr. Benson died May 1, 1974. Mrs. Benson remained at her farm home until November of 1983, when she moved to Aurora. She had resided at the Hamilton Manor since February 1988.

Emma was baptized and confirmed at an early age at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg, and belonged to the Lutheran Church Women.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Edward, Elmer and Rudy; 3 sisters, Josephine and Ida Andersen and Dora Feddersen.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bonnie Hermansen and her husband Rex of Aurora; 2 sisters, Clara Rasmussen of Aurora and Sena Larsen of Central City; 2 brothers, Andy C. Andersen of Central City and Lewis P. Andersen of Long Beach, California; 2 grandchildren, Julie Christenson and her husband Roger and Todd Hermansen and his wife Teri; 3 great granddaughters, Tamera, Brooke, and Megan Christenson and 4 step-great-granddaughters, Michelle Jensen, Jennifer Blake, Tracey and Veronica Osburn, and several nephews and nieces and many other relatives and friends.
