Ellen Benson

Ellen Benson, age 94, of Aurora, died Tuesday afternoon, July 23, 2002, at Memorial Long Term Care in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 26th at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: ELLEN BENSON

Ellen Johnson Benson, the daughter of Albert C. and Emma (Ekberg) Johnson, was born on a farm near Marquette, Nebraska on January 1, 1908 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 23, 2002, at the age of 94.

Ellen grew up on a farm southwest of Hordville. She graduated from Hordville High School in 1926, then attended York College, where she received her teaching certificate. Ellen taught school for three years and then returned to York College for certificate renewal and then went back to teach school for another three years.

Ellen was married to LeRoy Benson on June 1, 1933 at her parent's home in Hordville. They lived on a farm for four years. In 1937, they moved to Omaha where she held billing and bookkeeping jobs until retirement in 1970. They returned to Aurora in February 1974. LeRoy passed away on December 24, 1989.

She was a member of the Pleasant View Bible Church.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Reuben and Morris Johnson.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her brother, Maynard Johnson and his wife Eleanora of Aurora; five nephews and two nieces.
