Nancy Berner

Nancy Lynn Bader Berner, passed away on June 10, 2012 in Lincoln, NE at the age of 61 years from complications related to breast cancer and the MRSA virus.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, June 14th at the Monroe Evangelical Church in rural Phillips, Nebraska, 1001 West 18 Road, 5 miles west on Highway 34 and 6 miles north on K Road from Aurora. No visitation. Pastor Bob Stretch and Pastor Mark Dunham will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: NANCY BERNER

Nancy Lynn Bader Berner, the daughter of Donald and Kathryn (Siemers) Bader, was born at St. Paul, Nebraska on May 4, 1951 and passed away in Lincoln, Nebraska on June 10, 2012, at the age of 61.

From a young age, Nancy was always a person who loved to help others and to show God's love to all she met. She found her best friend and partner in life at the age of 21 when she married Gary Berner in St. Paul, Nebraska on September 22, 1972. Together they raised three children and Nancy taught them how to love and show God's love as well. Nancy graduated Dental Assisting School at Central Nebraska Technical College in Hastings and Orthodontic Appliance construction at Rocky Mountain Dental School in Denver. She worked for many years as an assistant to several dentists and orthodontist in the area, most recently for Dr. Annette Cserna in Lincoln as an assistant and lab technician. In 2004, Nancy also started Aurora Orthoworks, where she made orthodontic appliances for area dentists. That was her work, but her love was people, especially her grandchildren Caleb, Quin, Kaden, Easton and Tessa. Loving on them brought her so much joy and even during her recent health issues, "Nana' couldn't wait to see them.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Kathryn Bader of Grand Island; her mother-in-law, Josephine Berner of Aurora; her husband of 39 years Gary Berner of Aurora; two sons, Scott Berner and his wife Crystal of Lincoln and Todd Berner and wife Cari of Aberdeen, SD; daughter, Stacie Bassett and husband Daniel of Lincoln; two brothers, Steve (Theresa) Bader of Palmer and Roger Bader of Colorado Springs, CO; sister-in-law, Linda (Mel) Howry of Oak Park, CA; nephews, Major Aaron Howry, Captain Ryan Howry, Drill Sergeant Greg Bader and Captain David Bader (Rebecca) and family; nieces, Stephanie Bader and Tiffany (1st Sergeant Robert) Bader Cunningham; close family friends Captain Jason (Lori) Berner and family. She was cherished in the hearts of so many others.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Donald Bader; father-in-law, William Berner and nephew, Staff Sergeant Daniel Bader.
