Glenn Berthelsen
Glenn Berthelsen, age 86, of Aurora, died Saturday, November 18, 2006, at Bryan/LGH East in Lincoln. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 21st at Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Arlin Cochran and Elder Scott Butcher will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: GLENN BERTHELSEN Glenn J. Berthelsen, the son of James and Emma (Juhl) Berthelsen, was born in Bowesmont, North Dakota on June 3, 1920 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 18, 2006, at the age of 86. He was born and raised on a farm in Bosemont. Glenn attended the Fleece County School for his elementary education. He attended Cheyenne River Academy in Harvey North Dakota for his secondary education. Glenn met Alma Hansen at the academy and they were married on December 23, 1941. To this union were born 6 children, Arlen, Bonita, Susan, Janice, Gary and Vicki. They farmed in Iowa and Minnesota. After farming they moved to North Dakota where Glenn worked for a truck equipment company. In 1969 Glenn and his family moved to Marquette, Nebraska where he worked for Century Manufacturing Company as a Supervisor until his retirement in 1987. Glenn loved to garden. He especially liked to grow flowers of all kinds. He had a passion for fishing and loved to tell and hear fishing stories. Glenn will always be remembered for his sense of humor. We will never forget the smile on his face which puts a smile in our hearts. He was preceded in death by brothers Amos, Walter and Harvey, and one sister Hazel Johnson. He is survived by his wife Alma of Aurora; six children, Arlen and wife Virginia of Mesa Arizona, Bonita Berthelsen of Harrisburg, Missouri, Susan and husband Ralph Villani of Tustin Ranch, California, Janice and husband Chris Kowalis of Katy, Texas, Gary and wife Tara of Aurora, Nebraska and Vicki and husband Michael Sronce of Bellevue, Co; 11 grandchildren: Laura, Amy, Holly, Jason, Shayla, Heather, Elizabeth, Cindy, Oliver, Myles, Eliott, Joshua and Andrew; 12 great grandchildren: Meagan, Maxwell, Macy, Benjamin, Emily, Bethany, J.R., Griffyn, Alexander, Ebin, Eric and Abigail; two brothers Calvin and Owen and one sister Mae. |
