Olga Bigger
Olga Bigger, age 89, formerly of Aurora, died Monday evening, August 6, 2001 at Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M., Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: OLGA BIGGER Olga Marie Christensen Bigger, the daughter of Niels P. and Mattie (Hansen) Christensen, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on August 12, 1911 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on August 6, 2001, at the age of 89 years. Olga was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church. She went to school at District 100 near Marquette and District 90 near Hordville. She graduated from Hordville High School in 1930. Olga was united in marriage to Gordon Bigger on June 3, 1933 at Grand Island. She joined the Methodist Church on March 24, 1946. They farmed all of their married life, and on August 19, 1977, they moved into Aurora. They moved to Grand Island in November 1997. Gordon passed away on January 9, 1999. She helped with 4-H for many years. Olga belonged to the Happy Hour Club and Card Clubs. She did lots of knitting and fancywork. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister, Helen Jensen and three brothers, Axel, Edwin and Roy Christensen. Olga is survived by her son, Gordon Jr., "Bud" and his wife Sharon of Grand Island; one daughter, Ruth Ann Lif and her husband Donald of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, Robert and Ronald Bigger, Lesa (Lif) Gates and Galen Lif; 5 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Jordan and Jenna Bigger and Austin Gates. |
