Ruby Bish
Ruby Bish, age 94, of Aurora, formerly of Giltner died Sunday morning, December 2, 2001, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: RUBY BISH Ruby Nadeine Bish, the daughter of Albert and Allie (Huff) West, was born in Ely, Missouri on June 30, 1907 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 2, 2001, at the age of 94 years. Ruby was the second of eleven children. She spent the first eleven years of her life in Missouri. She attended school in Aurora through the 10th grade. Ruby was united in marriage to Arthur Edward Bish on January 25, 1929, at Wolbach, Nebraska. They moved to a farm 3 miles south and ½ mile east of Giltner. Ruby was bookkeeper for Harv's Farm Supply for several years. In 1964, they moved into Giltner and Arthur ran Bish Welding for 5 years, before retiring. Arthur passed away on June 17, 1991. Ruby was a member of the United Methodist Church in Giltner, the Women's Society, Greenwood Club, Extension Club and the Early Risers Bowling League. Ruby liked to entertain family and friends. She was an excellent cook. Ruby enjoyed her needlework, sewing, tending the flowers in her garden and crossword puzzles. She was the State Senior representative for the National Bowling Tournament 1985-1989. Ruby learned the computer when she was 86 and drove a car until she was 90. She was always an elegant lady, who presented herself well. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two grandsons, David Bish and Russell Schultz. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 6 children, Harvey and his wife Virginia of Aurora, Roger of Grand Island, Melvin Dean and his wife Dorothy of Scottsbluff, Eileen Schultz and her husband Art of Sun City West, Arizona, Don and his wife Leola of Giltner and Shirley McVicker and her husband Rich of Grand Island; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, a brother, Marvin West and two sisters, Mabel Eastman and Betty Derr. |
