Alvin 'Steve' Bish
Alvin L. 'Steve' Bish, age 85, of Aurora died Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 23rd at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora. Rev. Karl Larson will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: ALVIN (STEVE) BISH Alvin LeVern (Steve) Bish, the son of Ervin Elmer and Florence Margaret (Wagner) Bish, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, shortly before his twin brother, Eldon, on September 26, 1919 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on October 20, 2004, at the age of 85. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Giltner High School. Steve served during World War II in the Air Force. He served in England for two years and was honorably discharged. Steve was united in marriage to LaVerle Arlene Olson on May 24, 1953 at the Hastings Covenant Church. They farmed north of Giltner for 35 years and when they retired they moved into Aurora. Steve was a member of the Aurora Evangelical Covenant Church and had been a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Steve was past chairman of the Hamilton County Extension Board and was a 4-H leader. He was a member of the Mason, Scottish Rite and Shrine. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Eldon (Roy) Bish. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, LaVerle of Aurora; three children, Theresa (Nick) Caffarra of West Orange, New Jersey, Tedd (Kristi) Bish of Giltner and Renee (Jeff) Bramhall of Lincoln; 5 grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Torgerson of Aurora and Bonnie Ives of Portland, Oregon and two brothers, Cyril (LaVerne) Bish of Lincoln and Bill (Dorothy) Bish of West Point. |
