Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, July 13, 1998 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Giltner Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Selma Bish

Lena Selma Bish, the daughter of Peter and Augusta (Hoffman) Bish, was born on a farm southwest of Giltner, Nebraska, on December 17, 1899, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 10, 1998, at the age of 98 years, 6 months, and 23 days.

She grew up and attended country school south west of Giltner. Later her family moved to a house on the south edge of Giltner. In 1926, they purchased a home on the west side of Giltner, where she and her parents resided. She cared for her parents until their death, and she continued to reside at the family home. On January 24, 1994, she entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

She was employed for a number of years at the Giltner Telephone Office, then as a clerk in the Giltner Grocery Store, and later worked at the Giltner Post Office until her retirement in the 1970’s.

She attended Sunday school and Church at the Greenwood Methodist Episcopal Church, and later became a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling and had toured many states. She took an active part in the Giltner Project Club and Senior Citizens Meetings, and enjoyed caring for her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by a nephew Milan Bish of Grand Island and nieces.
