Jean Bister
Jean Bister, age 87, of Aurora, died September 4, 2009, at Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 9th at Mamre Evangelical Free Church. Interment will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: JEAN BISTER Jean Bister, the daughter of Joseph Edward and Elisabeth (Cochran) Wilson, was born in Cushing, Nebraska on March 23, 1922 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on September 4, 2009, at the age of 87. She graduated from Cushing High School Class of 1940, where she was valedictorian. Jean attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years, where she earned a teaching certificate. She taught school in Harvard, Buffalo and Hamilton Counties. On August 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to William (Bill) G. Bister at the Methodist Church in St. Paul. Jean worked for the U.S. Government in the O.P.A offices in St. Paul and Grand Island. After they moved to Marquette, Jean worked at Memorial Hospital and worked as an Avon Representative. Bill passed away on June 29, 1997. Jean was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. She had taught bible school for many years and was past president of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She was also past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Jean was a member of the Marquette Lioness Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Larry Bister of Minnow Oneca Falls, Wisconsin, Twyla Hill of Lincoln and Steve (Nancy) Bister of Lenexa, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. |
