Sylvia Bittinger

Sylvia Bittinger, age 84, of Aurora, passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 4th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at York at 1:30 P.M. Monday. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: SYLVIA BITTINGER

Sylvia Mary Bittinger, the daughter of Norman and Hilda Mary (Clewes) Pennance, was born at Crewe, England on February 14, 1928 and passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on June 1, 2012, at the age of 84.

Sylvia was born and raised in Crewe, England. She immigrated to the United States in 1948.

On December 6, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Bittinger at Aurora. Sylvia was a homemaker, during her married life. They moved to Fremont where Bob worked and in September of 1955, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where he began working for a trucking company. When they lived in Julesburg, Colorado Sylvia did work as a gift shop manager for Sapp Brothers. Bob continued to drive until his retirement on August 30, 1988, when they moved back to Hampton. Bob passed away on April 6, 1997.

Sylvia loved animals and enjoyed working on home improvement projects.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Freda Hartzell of Aurora; nieces, Betty (Ray) Makovicka of York, Geraldine Hartzell of Aurora, Norma (Ross) Peters of Hampton and Gail (Mike) Nelson of Aurora; nephew, Craig (Sue) Dallegge of Hampton and many great nieces and nephews.
