Joan Bjorkman

Joan Bjorkman, age 79, of Omaha died Tuesday, September 19, 2000 in Omaha.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday at Higby Mortuary in Aurora. Pastor Marvin Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M., Thursday at Higby Mortuary.

OBITUARY: JOAN BJORKMAN

Joan Bjorkman, the daughter of William and Frances (Tomkins) Brumfitt was born in Manchester, England on April 9, 1921, and died in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 19, 2000, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 10 days.

She grew up in Manchester, England. Joan met Miley Bjorkman during WW II and they married on February 16, 1946 in Manchester, England. They came to Aurora in 1946 and moved to Trumbull in 1954 where Joan and Miley farmed until their retirement in 1978. They moved to Sun City, Arizona and then to Fort Worth, Texas in 1982, until Miley’s death in 1985. Joan then settled in Omaha until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Miley, and siblings; Joyce, Jean and Dennis Brumfitt.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Dennis Bjorkman of Omaha; her daughter, Terry Nelson of Omaha; four grandchildren, Ashley & Ruston Bjorkman and Drew and Paul Nelson.
