Doris BlackburnFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 4, 1983 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Mrs. Doris Blackburn Doris E. Blackburn, the daughter of Merton and Mary Hill Jeffers, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska, on May 14, 1907. Her death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 1, 1983, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 17 days. As a young girl the family moved to Ansley, Nebraska, where she graduated from Ansley High School. On October 14, 1926 she was united in marriage to Everett E. Blackburn at Goodland, Kansas. They farmed near Buthune, Colorado for a short time and then moved into Denver, Colorado. Later they moved to Seattle, Washington. In 1942 they came to Aurora where they owned and operated the Grandview Café until 1956, when they sold the café and moved to Alma, Nebraska and operated a café there. Later they moved to North Bend, Nebraska and then to Shelby, Nebraska where they operated cafes. She later returned to Aurora because of failing health. Her husband died December 8, 1982. Mrs. Blackburn was affiliated with the First Christian Church in Aurora. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister Mrs. Vera Jaques and two brothers, Charles and Estyle Jeffers. Those who remain to cherish her memory are one son, Monty D. Blackburn of Shelby, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Goertzen of Aurora and Mrs. Glarae Johnston of Bradshaw, Nebraska; one brother, Dean Jeffers of Lexington, Kentucky; five sisters, Mrs. Bernice Spahr of Loveland, Colorado, Mrs. Naomi Jensen of Aurora, Mrs. Gladys Kirk of Aurora, Mrs. Marie Smith of Aurora and Mrs. Freeda Snoberger of Aurora; ten grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and other relatives and many close friends. |
