Larry Blattner
Larry Blattner, age 61, of Aurora, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Bryan/LGH Medical Center in Lincoln. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 2nd at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Rev. James Garfield will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: LARRY BLATTNER Larry Dean Blattner, the son of Albert R. and Marie E. (Pry) Blattner, was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 11, 1946 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on May 29, 2008, at the age of 61. Larry grew up in Grand Island. In 1964, Larry was united in marriage to Esther M. Jantzen from Aurora. They lived most of their lives in Aurora with short amount of times spent in Sidney, Grand Island and Hastings. Four children were born to them: Jefferey, Jeanie, Joseph and Jay. Larry enjoyed a wide variety of abilities when it came to repairing almost anything which led him to employment in the fields of auto body repair and painting, mechanical and most recently refrigeration at where he was employed at Swift and Company until he became disabled. As long as he was able he would help family and friends with anything that needed repaired, and when he was unable to do the work, was more than willing to advise someone on how to do it. He loved to camp and fish as long as he was able. Also in earlier years was an avid stock car participant. He enjoyed family vacations and get togethers and especially loved to spoil his grandkids when he could. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and younger brother, Terry. Those left to miss him and cherish his memory are his wife Esther of Aurora; children, Jeff Blattner, Jeanie Harris of Grand Island, Joey (Brenda) Blattner of Aurora and Jay (Jessica) Blattner of Gibbon; two brothers, Jerry Blattner of Kohokia, Illinois and Gary Blattner of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Sherry Klapal of Aurora; 8 grandchildren, Keifer and Taylor Harris, Jase and Jarren Blattner, Krystal and Linda Johnson, Gabe Bender and Michael Wright and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends. |
