Greg Blomstrand, Jr.
Greg Blomstrand, Jr., age 83, former owner of Greg's Drugs in Aurora, died Tuesday morning, November 13, 2001, at Hamilton Manor. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: GREG BLOMSTRAND, JR. Gregory R. Blomstrand, Jr., the son of Gregory R. and Laura (Weedin) Blomstrand, Sr., was born in Aurora, Nebraska on July 12, 1918 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 13, 2001, at the age of 83 years. He grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1937. He attended the University of Nebraska, until he enlisted in the Air Force for WW II. Greg spent 3 ½ years overseas in the India-Burma China Theatre, where he served with the 10th Airforce in India and the 14th Airforce in China. When Greg returned from the war he went to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he earned his degree of Pharmacy in 1954. Later, Greg received his doctorate of Pharmacy. In 1945, Greg was united in marriage to Beth Huenefeld. Three children came from this union: Kim, Tom and Jon. Greg reenlisted to serve in the Korean War for two years, in the Air Force Reserves. They returned to Aurora in 1955, when Greg began working for his father at Greg's Drugs on the square. Greg purchased the business from him in 1960. Beth and he were divorced in 1969. Greg sold the store in 1979. In 1971, Greg married Dianne Bourland. Two children were born to this union: Heather and Lance. They were later divorced. Greg was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W and the York Elks Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. Greg is survived by his five children, Kim Blomstrand of Denver, Colorado, Tom Blomstrand of Aurora, Jon Blomstrand and his wife Lynn of Amery, Wisconsin, Lance Blomstrand of Lincoln and Heather Williams and her husband Anthony of Lafayette, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren, Clarissa Blomstrand of Aurora, and Justin, Kyle and Nicolas Blomstrand of Amery, Wisconsin and Blaine Blomstrand of Lincoln and a brother, Bob Blomstrand of Green Valley, Arizona. |
