OBITUARY: Susan Blomstrand

Susan Marie Blomstrand went to be with her Lord on November 22, 1998, after a long fight with cancer. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 4, 1932, to Helen and Frank Sveska. Her education was in the Omaha Public Schools, and she attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, graduating in 1954 with a BS in Elementary Education. While at the University, she was affiliated with Delta Gamma Sorority, was a PEO, and participated in many intercollegiate activities. Here she met her husband of 43 years, Robert Nels Blomstrand. After teaching elementary education in Omaha and Lincoln public schools, while her husband finished his college education, she joined her husband in the US Army. Two sons were born to this union, and she served with her husband at various state-side and overseas assignments.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, one son Robert Frank, grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles. Survivors include her husband Bob, her son Andy (Vicky) of Sierra Vista, AZ; her twin sister Sally (Edson) Bridges of Omaha, NE; her brother Robert (Dorothy) Sveska of Escondido, CA; a granddaughter, Sarah; a brother-in-law Greg Bloms of Aurora; three nephews, two nieces, and their families; several cousins and many friends throughout the United States and overseas.

Susand will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. A memorial service will be held in Green Valley with graveside services and burial in Aurora, Nebraska.
