Mazie BobstFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 12, 1992 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Mazie Bobst Mazie Anice Bobst, the daughter of Maro T. and Nancy E. “Nannie” (Seybold) Kerr, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 27, 1894, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on November 10, 1992, at the age of 98 years, 1 month, and 13 days. She attended District # 99 country school near Aurora, and attended Aurora High School. She then attended Fremont Normal College in Fremont and after graduation began teaching school at District # 1 in Hamilton County. On January 28, 1920, she was united in marriage to Clinton Bobst at York, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1947. She continued to teach school after her marriage in other rural districts, and also in the Hampton and Giltner Elementary Schools. She and her husband lived on the family homestead near Giltner, Nebraska, and after her husband’s death she continued to reside with her son, William, both in rural areas and in Aurora. In 1980, she entered the Memorial Community Care at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Shortly after her marriage they took into their home a foster child, Harley Tucker, until he completed his high school. Mazie was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and belonged to the church circle. She was also a member of the Phillips Chapter of Easter Star #204, and in 1977 she was a 50 year member of the Gleaners Chapter Eastern Star #177. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers Clarence and Arden Kerr, and a sister Essie Kerr. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son William of Aurora; one brother Floyd Kerr of Orinda, California, and one sister Cleetis Kerr of Aurora. |
