William Bobst

William Bobst, age 77, of Aurora, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 6th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. James Corson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Memorial Foundation. OBITUARY: WILLIAM BOBST

William M. Bobst, the son of Clinton O. and Mazie A. (Kerr) Bobst, was born in Aurora, Nebraska on July 6, 1929 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 2, 2007, at the age of 77.

His father was a farmer in the Aurora area. Bill grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School. After high school, he continued his education at Hastings College and then after two years in Hastings College, he transferred to UNL January 13, 1949, where he earned his B.S. in Agriculture in January 1952, where he majored in General Ag. Because of his love of education, Bill returned to UNL in 1954 taking graduate classes for four years.

After college, Bill taught school beginning in Mead, NE and then continuing on through Trumbull, Giltner, Hampton and finishing his last years of teaching science at Hordville in 1972-73.

After he quit teaching, he began remodeling homes and then finished his working career by doing ag sales and service. His business was called Custom Service.

William was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the Keystone Masonic Lodge #62 of Phillips and Giltner, where he earned a 50-year pin from the Eastern Star. Bill hobbies included metal and woodworking, where he had a shop in his home to do this. He liked building model airplanes. His past interests included dancing and Polka music. Bill played drums in the high school band and college band and then also continued playing the drums for a small local orchestra.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father died in 1957 and his mother died in 1992.

Those left to cherish his memory are his aunt Martha Kerr of Grand Island; cousin, E.J. Mills and his family of Aurora and many other cousins, family and friends.
