George "Joe" Lee Bourg
George "Joe" Lee Bourg, age 64, of Aurora, died Saturday morning, August 6, 2005 at his home in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: GEORGE LEE BOURG George "Joe" Lee Bourg, the son of Louis A. and Alfreda (Baumgartner-Fritzi) Bourg, was born in Orange, California on November 6, 1940 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 6, 2005, at the age of 64 years. Joe grew up in Roseland, Nebraska and graduated from Roseland High School in 1958. He was in the Navy serving in the California area as well as Okinawa and Vietnam from March, 1960 to February, 1970. Joe was married to Carolyn G. Hawkins on November 11, 1961 in Palo Alto, California. They lived in California until 1967. He was stationed in Okinawa until 1970 when they moved to a farm near Roseland, Nebraska. They moved to Aurora, Nebraska in 1972 where he was a machinist for Century Manufacturing and ARJO Manufacturing for twenty-five years. He also worked at Sunstrand Manufacturing in York for five years. Joe was a member of the VFW Post 4993 where he served as Post Commander and District Commander. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He also collected golf balls and Nebraska football memorabilia. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn, his four children, Robert (Barbara) Bourg of Lawrence, Nebraska, Theresa (Vern) Fielder of Aurora, Nebraska, Susan (Michael) O'Brien of Norfolk, Nebraska, Leanne (Greg) Gimpel of Aurora, Nebraska; four brothers, John (Arlis) Bourg of Raymond, Nebraska, Robert (Paula) Bourg of Holstein, Nebraska, Edward (Sandy) Bourg of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Kenneth (Teresa) Bourg of Holstein, Nebraska; two sisters, Catherine (Marcus) Bailey of Aledo, Texas and Anna (John) Eckhardt of Roseland, Nebraska; and 10 grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. |
