Fern Bowlby

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 1, 1989 at the Aurora Assembly of God Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Fern Bowlby

Fern Violet Bowlby, the daughter of James and Iva (Price) Lytle, was born in Loup County, Nebraska, on July 25, 1910, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 28, 1989, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 3 days.

She attended rural schools in Garfield County, and upon the death of her mother she helped her dad with the housework and the care of her brothers.

On July 29, 1930, she was united in marriage to Leo E. Bowlby, at Ord, Nebraska. They lived in the Burwell area until 1945, then they moved to Pueblo, Colorado for one year. In 1946, they moved to Hordville, where they operated Bowlby’s Café, until 1975, when they retired and moved to Aurora.

Fern belonged to the Royal Neighbors ,the Baptist Ladies Aid, the Hordville PTA, and helped with 4-H in the Hordville community.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and playing cards with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, D.T. Wayne Lytle, and one grandson, Leslie Arthur Carlson.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Leo, of Aurora; 4 daughters, Beth Andreasen of Bradshaw, Garnet Carlson of Escalon, California, Mildred Hatcher of Maryville, Missouri, and Luana Wall of Aurora; 4 brothers, Leo Lytle of Umatilla, Oregon, Eldon Lytle of Custer, South Dakota, Bernard Lytle of Burns, Oregon, and Robert Lytle of Palmer, Alaska; one sister, Hazel Paxton of Tulare, California; a sister-in-law Edna Lytle of Burwell, 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and close friends.
