Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 25, 1993 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held at Greeley Cemetery in Greeley, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Ruth Boyden

Ruth D. Boyden, the daughter of John and Eliza (Swank) Dutcher, was born in a sod house near Greeley, Nebraska, on April 23, 1902, and died at Aurora, Nebraska on March 22, 1993 at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

She grew up in Greeley, where she graduated from high school in 1921. While in high school, she also completed 2 years of college by correspondence. She then taught country school in Greeley County for several years.

On June 11, 1928, she was united in marriage to Sherman Boyden at Grand Island. She continued to teach country school until 1943, when they moved to Aurora where she became Hamilton County’s Director of the Department of Welfare. She retired in 1975 after serving for 32 years. She moved to Memorial Community Care unit of Memorial Hospital in November of 1982.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora, where she had been active in church circles for many years. She was also active in American Legion Auxiliary for many years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers, Richard and Ralph.

Those who survive to cherish her memory are 2 sons, William Boyden of Council Bluffs, Iowa and John Boyden of Golden, Colorado; one brother, Elmer Dutcher of Ord; 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
