Irma Bristol

Irma Bristol, age 93, of Aurora, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the Hamilton Manor.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 27th at the Aurora United Methodist. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in York at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: IRMA BRISTOL

Irma Anna Bristol, the daughter of George and Emma (Tonjes) Fehlhafer, was born at Utica, Nebraska on June 25, 1915 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on March 24, 2009, at the age of 93.

Irma attended Lutheran school through the 8th grade and completed her G.E.D. in 1971.

On July 22, 1936, she was united in marriage to Richard Bristol at Utica. She helped her husband with farming. Irma took up painting classes in 1975. She was a cake decorator. Irma made many wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes. She gave demonstrations and conducted classes in cake decorating. Richard and Irma were married nearly 73 years.

Irma was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the Dorcas Circle. She joined T & T Neighbor Club, SS Club and was a 4-H Leader. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and quilting. Irma read books to the residents at Bethesda Care Home for 12 years. Irma was known to her family and friends as a very loving and loyal person.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Selma Obermier, Emma Conell and Irna Obermier.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard Bristol of Aurora; three daughters, Diann (Earl) Jensen of Aurora, Carolyn (Stanley) Tanner of Poland, Maine and Beverly (Vaughn) Berck of Aurora; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
