Doris Brooks
Doris Brooks, age 95, of Aurora, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at the Hamilton Manor. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 13th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. F. Cole Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: DORIS BROOKS Doris Geneva Brooks, the daughter of Arthur and Eva (Ekberg) Wilson, was born near Hordville, Nebraska on September 7, 1914 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 9, 2009, at the age of 95. She grew up in Marquette and graduated from Marquette High School in 1931. Doris attended York College and Kearney State College. She went on to teach school for eight years in District 76, 93 & 94. On June 7, 1940, she was united in marriage to Orval Brooks at Aurora. Doris worked at Red & White Grocery for 30 years. She was a lifetime resident of Hamilton County. Orval passed away on August 20, 1996. Doris was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, the Women’s Group and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She belonged to the Priscilla Club and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing card games. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Edwin and Allan Wilson and sister, Margaret Wilson. Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, J. Bradley (Polly) Brooks of Norfolk and Beth Ann Brooks of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; 2 grandchildren, Todd James Brooks of Norfolk and Troy Michael Brooks of Lincoln and two brothers-in-law, Harold Stark of Aurora and Merle Brooks of Ashville, North Carolina and many other family and friends. |
