Orval Brooks

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 23, 1996 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Orval Brooks

Orval Ray Brooks, the son of William and Muriel (Dart) Brooks, was born at Riverton, Nebraska, on May 13, 1915, and died at Central City, Nebraska, on August 20, 1996, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 7 days.

His early life was spent in Riverton, where he began school. In 1926, the family moved to Aurora, and he graduated from Aurora High School with the class of 1932.

On June 7, 1940, he was united in marriage to Doris Wilson at Aurora.

He had held various jobs before starting work at the Aurora Post Office in 1937. He served his country during World War 2, in the U.S. Army, from 1942 until 1943, serving in North Africa and Italy. From 1950 until 1951, he was called back to serve in the Reserves. Following his service in the Army he continued to work for the U.S. Postal Service until 1953. He then worked for New Holland and Cargill.

Orval was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and belonged to the American Legion and V.F.W. Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and a brother Leonard.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Doris of Aurora; one son Brad of Norfolk; a daughter Beth Ann Brooks of St. Clair Shores, Michigan; a brother Merle of Marion, North Carolina; a sister Eva Stark of Aurora; and 2 grandchildren.
