Elmer Wayne Campbell

Elmer Wayne Campbell, age 77, of Aurora, died Tuesday night, February 11, 2003, at Grand Island Veterans Home.

Memorial Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 15th at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora. Pastor Karl Larson will officiate. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: ELMER WAYNE CAMPBELL

Elmer Wayne Campbell, the son of Linos Elmer and Evelyn (Lynn) Campbell, was born in Meadow Grove, Nebraska on November 11, 1925 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on February 11, 2003, at the age of 77.

He attended rural schools in Hamilton County and Aurora High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from October, 1946 to October, 1951. He farmed for many years and cared for his parents. He was a security guard at Bonavilla in Aurora and Sunstrand in York.

Elmer married Dorothy Lewis Ek on August 17, 1972.

He enjoyed hunting and he was active in his church helping with youth groups. He was a fun-loving, kind, and generous man.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy; two daughters: Jerolyn (Lynn) Wenell of Albert City, Iowa; Laura (Kent) Tucker of Aurora, NE; six grandchildren: Lewis, Reuben, and Brice Wenell and Megan, Jessica, and Libby Tucker; two sisters: Margaret Davis of Oregon and Barbara Buschmeyer of Fremont, NE; one brother, Gene Hahle, of Oregon; nieces and nephews.
