George CampbellFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, September 12, 1988 at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: George Campbell George Samuel Campbell, the son of Samuel and Emma (Snodgrass) Campbell, was born at Giltner, Nebraska, on January 19, 1901, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on September 8, 1988, at the age of 87 years, 7 months, and 19 days. He attended school in the Giltner area. On August 15, 1929, he was united in marriage to Helen Huenefeld at Aurora. In the early 1930’s he saw the need to conserve rain water, and invented a Damming Machine for which he received a patent. In 1939, he became one of the first farmers in Hamilton County to use Deep-well irrigation. He farmed until 1961, and from 1962 to 1972, he was the owner and operator of the Rainbow Motel in Hastings. George was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Aurora since 1932, and among other offices, he serves as deacon and treasurer. He also helped build the present church. His ministry was missions and World Bible distribution. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son LaVerne in infancy and one brother Alfred. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Helen of Aurora; 2 sons, Donald of Aurora and Alvin of Omaha; 2 daughters Arlene Herman of Hastings and Georgene Powell of Meeker, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. |
