Dennis Canter

Dennis Beatty Canter, age 76, of Aurora, died July 17, 1992, at the Grand Island Veteran’s Hospital.

He was cremated and the cremains were interred in the Rock Springs Cemetery, in Washington County, Virginia.

Dennis Beatty Canter, the son of Horton and Cora (Turnmira) Canter, was born at Tamarack, North Carolina, on January 5, 1916, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on July 17, 1992, at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 12 days.

He grew up and attended school in Virginia.

He served in the United States Army from August 23, 1935 to October of 1936, and re-entered the service from April 21, 1941 to August 5, 1941.

On July 16, 1979, he was united in marriage to Helen Ponder, at Omaha.

Dennis drove a Greyhound Bus, and also drove for several major truck lines, until the last 3 years, due to failing health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Helen of Aurora; 2 sons Alvin and Dennis, both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one daughter Gloria Jean Scott of San Diego, California; one brother Kenneth Davis of Delaware; one sister Shirley McThenia of Frederick, Maryland; and 6 grandchildren.
