Wendell Carlson

Robert Wendell Carlson age 91, passed away Monday morning, July 29, 2002, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary, with Rev. Bob Pier officiating. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: WENDELL CARLSON

Wendell Carlson, the son of Joseph E and Mayme Read Carlson was born in Benedict, Nebraska on October 28, 1910 and passed away in Grand Island, Nebraska on July 29, 2002,at Wedgewood Care Center at the age of 91 years.

He attended school in Bradshaw , Nebraska graduating from Bradshaw High School in 1929. He helped his father in a harness and shoe shop.

Wendell married Ruth Anna Traudt on November 18, 1934 in Belleville, Kansas. They farmed in the Stockham and Benedict areas. They owned the Carlson gas station for 1 year, then farmed West of Bradshaw. He entered Lebensraum Retirement Home in 1996, and has lived at Wedgewood Care Center since 1999.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, daughters, Cleetis Miller and her husband Bernard of Grand Island, and Dr. Phyllis Markussen-Mutunayagam and her husband Dr. Brito of Kearney and Lincoln, and son Dennis W. Carlson and his wife Janelle of Shelby, 9 Grandchildren, and 9 Great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joe L.Carlson and his wife Merna of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
