Carl 'Rudy' CarlsonCarl “Rudy” Carlson, age 84, of Marquette, longtime area farmer died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday at Monroe Evangelical Free Church north of Murphy. Rev. Mark Dunham will officiate. Interment will be in Monroe Evangelical Free Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M., Monday at Higby Mortuary. OBITUARY: RUDY CARLSON Carl Rudolph “Rudy” Carlson, the son of Ernest and Nannie (Lorentz) Carlson, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on July 31, 1915 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 2, 2000, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 2 days. He grew up in Hamilton County, where he attended country school. Rudy graduated from Aurora High School, after high school he began farming with his dad. Rudy was united in marriage to Irene Carl on June 12, 1947 in Grand Island, Nebraska in the Evangelical Free Church. They continued farming in the Marquette area, where he spent his entire life. He was a lifetime member of Monroe Evangelical Free Church, where he held various offices and served the church in many capacities. Rudy was a Marquette School Board member for many years. He also was a member of the Marquette Co-op Board for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Adelin Carlson. Survivors include his wife, Irene; five children, Curtis Carlson and his wife Carla of Marquette, Barbara Bebee and her husband Roy of Annapolis, Maryland, Ardith Handrup and her husband Barry of Marquette, Dorene Borgquist and her husband Daryl of Leesburg, Virginia and Bill Carlson and his wife Michele of Atlanta, Georgia; 19 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; one brother, Ervin Carlson of Marquette. |
