Ruth Carlson, age 89, passed away Tuesday morning, September 28, 2004, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 1st at the Chapel of Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Rev. Monty Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: RUTH CARLSON

Ruth Anna Carlson, the daughter of Peter A. and Myrtle (Driesback) Traudt, was born in Stockham, Nebraska on October 1, 1914 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on September 28, 2004, at the age of 89.

She grew up in Stockham and graduated from Stockham High School.

Ruth was united in marriage to Robert "Wendell" Carlson on November 18, 1934 in Belleville, Kansas. They farmed in the Stockham and Benedict areas. They owned the Carlson gas station for one year, then farmed west of Bradshaw. They moved to Grand Island in 1996 and to Riverside Lodge in 2000. Wendell passed away on July 29, 2002.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Dorcas Circle. She was also involved in the Hi Neighbor Club and several other ladies functions.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Cleetis (Bernard) Miller of Grand Island, Dr. Phyllis (Dr. Brito) Markussen-Mutunayagam of Kearney and Lincoln and Dennis W. (Janelle) Carlson of Shelby; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
