Avis CarnesAvis Carnes, age 73, of Hampton, died Tuesday evening, December 4, 2001, at her home in Hampton. Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Maxwell Cemetery near North Platte, Nebraska. Higby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: AVIS CARNES Avis Marie Carnes, the daughter of Adrien Martin and Harriett Grace (Hubbard) Criner, was born in Olean, New York on June 7, 1928 and died in Hampton, Nebraska on December 4, 2001, at the age of 73 years. She attended school in Olean, New York through the 11th grade. Avis moved to California during World War II. Avis was united in marriage to Kenneth William Carnes on October 13, 1954 at Vallejo, California. Ken was in the Navy and during that time they lived in California, Japan and Virginia. After leaving the service, they ran a Boy Scout Camp in Montana. In 1975, they moved to Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Thomas Criner and Frederick Criner and two sisters, Fern Howard and Marcia Kezar. Avis is survived by her husband, Ken of Hampton; two children, Barbara Sue Mays of Benecia, California and Robert Frederick Silva of Vacaville, California; 14 grandchildren. |
