Donovan Carrico

Donovan Carrico, age 72, of Aurora, died Tuesday morning, August 20, 2002, at Hamilton Manor.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Brian Kottas and Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DONOVAN CARRICO

Donovan Ray Carrico, the son of Elbert Pryce and Margaret Estella (Nauenburg) Carrico, was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on May 10, 1930 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 20, 2002, at the age of 72.

He grew up in Dawson County and graduated from Eddyville High School in 1948. Donovan was in the Army Reserves for three years. He worked on the family farm for several years before he worked in carpentry for four years. Donovan went to work for a pharmaceutical company, The West Company in Kearney, until his retirement in 1995. After his retirement he moved to Aurora to be closer to his parents.

Donovan loved to bowl. He bowled in the Senior Bowling League in Grand Island twice a week. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Grand Island and the Elks Lodge in Kearney.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Joann Lemkau of Aurora; mother and step-father, James and Margaret Harris of Aurora; five step-sisters, Patricia Brauer and her husband Roland and Jeri Podliska and her husband Udell all of Norfolk, Rita Wegner and her husband Donald of Lexington, Marcia Friesen and her husband Tom and Louise Bettenhausen and her husband Robert all of Lincoln and nieces and nephews.
