Warren CassFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 6, 1993 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Warren Cass Warren Allen Cass, the son of Orsamus and Belle (Myers) Cass, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 17, 1906, and died at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, in Grand Island, Nebraska, on October 4, 1993, at the age of 87 years, 5 months, and 17 days. He grew up at Aurora, and attended Aurora High School. He then worked was a farm hand, and was employed at the Farmers Union Creamery. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army from September 11, 1942, until his discharge on January 27, 1945. On September 24, 1954, he was united in marriage to Leta Sporhase, at Nebraska City, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on August 26, 1979. After their marriage they lived in Colorado where he was employed at the Lowrey Air Force Base until he retired, and moved back to Aurora, where he lived until he entered the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island, in 1991. Warren was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and was a Charter Member and Life Time Member of the Aurora Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4993. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Wilbur. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his 3 sisters, Helen Mekara, Emma Jayne Mersch, and Gwendolyn Penner, all of Aurora; 2 nieces and 2 nephews. |
