Enid CasteelEnid Casteel, age 90, of York died Wednesday night, June 30, 1999, at York General Hospital in York. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday morning at the Phillips Cemetery. Rev. Dwight DeLaet will officiate. Interment will be in Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5, Friday at Higby Mortuary. OBITUARY: ENID CASTEEL Enid Esther Casteel, the daughter of Owen and Anna (Kettenring) Walker, was born in Ionia, Kansas on October 25, 1908 and died in York, Nebraska on June 30, 1999, at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 5 days. The family moved to a farm southwest Phillips in 1909, where Enid attended grade school. They then moved to a farm near Phillips in 1922 where she joined the Methodist Church and attended High School and graduated in 1924. She then worked at the Telephone Office and the Phillips Advertiser Newspaper. She was united in marriage to Clark Casteel in 1928. They farmed at Neligh, Nebraska and lived there for ten years, then purchased a farm near Robinson, Kansas and lived there for 15 years. They returned to Minden, Nebraska where Clark died in 1964. Enid then moved to Aurora where she purchased a home and worked at the Ordinance Plant near Grand Island until she retired in 1973, She then did volunteer work at the Plainsman Museum for ten years. She moved to an apartment in York, Nebraska in 1992. Her parents, husband, and one sister, Ona Langworthy of California preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Elva Butler of Aurora, Nebraska. |
