Eileen Chaney
Eileen Chaney, age 90, of Aurora, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at Memorial Community Care. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 3rd at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. OBITUARY: EILEEN CHANEY Eileen Mae Chaney, the daughter of Wilber E. and Lydia Grace (Springer) Maw, was born in Giltner, Nebraska on November 25, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 31, 2008, at the age of 90. Eileen grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1934. Later on she attend Business College in Richmond, Indiana and attended Art Classes at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. Eileen was united in marriage to Donal W. Chaney on October 13, 1934 at Grand Island. They lived in Giltner until 1938. Over the years they lived in Bowling Green, Galion & Newark, Ohio, Denver, Colorado, Buffalo, New York and Cambridge City, Indiana before returning to Aurora when Donal retired in 1983. Donal passed away on September 8, 1996. Eileen was a member of the Lutheran Church since 1938. She was very involved in her church. She sang in the choir for 40 years, served as Sunday School and Bible School teacher, Sunday School pianist, secretary and treasurer and on the church council in churches where they had lived. Eileen was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Hamilton County Historical Society. Eileen enjoyed doing crafts and had been a member in several sewing and knitting clubs. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, John Callis, grandson-in-law, Ken Bradford and three brothers, Keith, Don and and Dean Maw. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her daughter, Nancy Callis of Spring, Texas; 6 grandchildren, Joel, Jennise, Donal, Dana, Amy and Marcy; 11 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; brother, Larry Maw of Texas and two sisters, Cherie Ott and Marlene Henthorn both of Aurora. |
