Raymond Christenson
Raymond Christenson, age 91, of Aurora, died Sunday night, October 6, 2002, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, October 10th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Aurora Senior Center or Memorial Hospital. OBITUARY: RAYMOND CHRISTENSON Raymond Gordon Christenson, son of Pete and Emma (Fjell) Christenson, was born December 31, 1910 on a farm north of Aurora. He passed away in Aurora, Nebraska on October 6, 2002, at the age of 91. On February 19, 1938 Raymond married Bessie (Betty) P. Schmidt at Gordon, Nebraska. They moved to a farm north of Aurora where Raymond farmed for 46 years. He served as a steward, trustee and treasurer for the EUB Church in Aurora and subsequently became a member of the United Methodist Church. He served on the Grant Center School board, was a 4-H leader for many years, and also served on the county extension board. In 1984, Raymond and Betty moved to Aurora where Raymond volunteered at the Plainsman Museum and was active in the Lion's Club and his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Fredolph and Lawrence Christenson; two sisters, Mabel Andersen and Maxine Hutsell and two granddaughters, Megan Christenson and Amy Peterson Franklin. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Betty of Aurora; four sons and their wives, Allen and Sherry Christenson of O'Neill, R. Keith and Kay Christenson of Clay Center, Gale and Kay Christenson and Roger and Julie Christenson all of Aurora; daughter, Diana and Richard Peterson of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Roland (Doris) Christenson and Royal Christenson and two sisters, Gladys Wolff and Darlene Holloway. |
