Roland Christenson
Roland Christenson, age 94, of Aurora, died Friday, March 21, 2008, at the Hamilton Manor. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 25th at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 5 –7. OBITUARY: ROLAND CHRISTENSON Roland Christenson, the son of Pete and Emma (Fjell) Christenson, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on March 2, 1914 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 21, 2008, at the age of 94. He grew up in Hamilton County and attended Country School through the 8th grade. On April 16, 1939, he was united in marriage to Doris Vetter. They farmed south of Marquette until 1991, when they moved into Aurora. They had celebrated 68 years of marriage. Roland was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, the Lion’s Club and had served on the Marquette School Board for many years. Roland enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was very involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending all of their activities. Roland enjoyed playing mouth harps with Don Tuttle. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Donna Christenson; twin brother, Royal; three brothers, Fredolph, Lawrence and Raymond Christenson and four sisters, Mabel Andersen, Maxine Hutsell, Gladys Wolff and Darlene Holloway. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Christenson of Aurora; four sons, Larry Christenson of Riverside, California, Gerald (Linda) Christenson of North Platte, Doyle (Kathy) Christenson of Marquette and Murry (Marylyn) Christenson of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. |
