Ronald CoatsFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 4, 1988 at the Giltner United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Giltner Cemetery. OBITUARY: Ronald Coats Ronald William Coats, the son of George and Laura (Smith) Coats, was born at Stockham, Nebraska, on January 24, 1920, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 31, 1988 at the age of 68 years, 2 months, and 7 days. His early years were spent in the Stockham and Giltner area, where he attended school. On November 8, 1940, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Koch, at Yuma, Arizona. They lived in California for a time, and since 1951, they made their home on a farm 2 miles south of Giltner. He retired from farming in 1980, and for many years he was involved with thoroughbred racing horses. Ron was a member of the Giltner United Methodist Church, and was a former Hamilton County Commissioner. He was also Director of National Horsemen, and a member of the Benevolent Protective Association. He belonged to the Hastings Elks Lodge #159, and the Grand Island Eagles Aerie #378. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Eleanor Rickaby, and a brother Warren. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Marjorie; 3 daughters, Carol Reiter of El Centro, California, Barbara Grabowski of Omaha, and Joan Swigle of Hastings; 2 brothers, Duane of Giltner and Elroy of Turlock, California, and 5 grandchildren and many other relatives and close friends. |
