Twila Coffey

Twila Coffey, age 90, of Phillips, died Tuesday, December 3, 2002, at Bryan/LGH East Hospital in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 6th at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: TWILA COFFEY

Twila May Coffey, the daughter of Peter C. and Ella Josephine (Nodland) Schnell, was born on a farm northwest of Harvard, Nebraska on May 24, 1912 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on December 3, 2002, at the age of 90.

She grew up on the family farm near Harvard and graduated from Harvard High School in 1931.

Twila was united in marriage to George E. Coffey on January 28, 1934 in Clay County, Nebraska. They spent all their wedded life farming at Phillips. Twila was the bookkeeper and treasurer of the Coffey & Son Farm. George passed away on March 31, 1978.

Twila was a member of the Phillips United Methodist Church and the Morning Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Greenwood Club of Giltner, the BB Club in Phillips and was an active member of the Senior Citizen Center in Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one son, Keith Coffey, a grandson, Giovanni Coffey and two great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Reverend Marvin Coffey and his wife Dalva of Wilsey, Kansas and Doris Wiens and her husband Marvin of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Darlene Otto of Hastings; 8 grandchildren, Roseanna Coffey Torres and her husband Duda of Campo Grande, Brazil, Sharol Coffey Bohl and her husband Larry of Poulsbo, Washington, Dwight Coffey and his wife Leah of Richardson, Texas, Roger Coffey and his wife Jodie of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Kathy Wiens Pahre and her husband Russell of Lincoln, Gloria Wiens Bailey and her husband Allan of Jefferson City, Missouri, Carolyn Coffey Madison and her husband Randy of Roca and Dr. Kristen Coffey Johnson and her husband David of Hastings; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren and many other close relatives and friends.
