Fay ColburnFuneral Services were held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 22, 1986 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner. Interment was held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. OBITUARY: Fay Colburn Fay Lawrence Colburn, the son of Ray and Elizabeth (Hanson) Colburn, was born at Glenville, Nebraska, on October 8, 1911, and passed away at Hastings, Nebraska, on February 18, 1986, at the age of 74 years, 4 months, and 10 days. He grew up in Adams County and attended country schools in Clay County. On August 5, 1937, he was united in marriage to Helen Preissler at Harvard, Nebraska. After their marriage they moved southeast of Giltner, where they farmed for 5 years, and then they moved to a farm south of Giltner where he has since resided, retiring in 1976. Fay was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner, the Eagles Club and the Greenwood Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Helen; 3 sons, Lawrence of Giltner, Roger of Denver, and Kenneth of Giltner; 3 daughters, Margaret Wermeskerch of Hastings, Elizabeth Most of Giltner, and Theresa White of Aurora; 3 brothers, Virgil of Dallas, Oregon, Maynerd of Glenville and Ervin of Hastings; 3 sisters, Evelyn Erthum of Portland, Oregon, Avis Smith of Portland, Oregon and Erma Smith of Hastings; 11 grandchildren, and many other relatives and close friends. |
